Topic: Professional responsibility and practice before the USPTO

Review of ethics requirements and standards for practice before the USPTO, including discussion of disciplinary cases. The CLE will focus on a discussion of frequently seen issues in discipline cases and best practices.
In addition, John Kirkpatrick, from the USPTO’s Patent Pro Bono Team, will provide an overview of the USPTO’s Patent Pro Bono Program. He will talk about pro bono representation and how the USPTO recognizes registered patent practitioners who volunteer and the law firms who support their work. Dr. Connie Wan, a registered patent practitioner, will introduce Seattle University School of Law’s new Washington State-Tile Patent Pro Bono Hub, through which registered patent practitioners may volunteer to serve financially under-resourced inventors.
